End-of-Season Celebration: Sunday March 4th!

The can’t miss event of the season!  Come celebrate the end of the 2011/2012 Providence Upward Basketball season on Sunday, March 4th.  Seating and Live Music starts at 4pm.  The Celebration itself starts at 430pm with featured entertainer Jesse the Juggler!  A light dinner (co-sponsored by Chick-fil-A!) and Upward Sports gifts will immediately follow the ceremony.

Who is Jesse?  Jesse Joyner is a world gold-medalist in the sport of joggling.  What is joggling?  A sport where people run and juggle at the same time (Wikipedia, how to, Jesse interview).  Jesse and his wife Sarah are graduates of Taylor University and Asbury Theological Seminary.  They live in Richmond, VA.

Jesse’s family-friendly programs rely on tons of audience participation and leverage his masterful juggling and captivating storytelling.  Having experience as a Children’s Pastor, Jesse knows how to connect kids (and adults) to the truth of God’s Word in ways that are fun, relevant, meaningful, and memorable.

Ash Wednesday, February 22nd

Providence Presbyterian Church will have an Ash Wednesday worship service in the main Sanctuary starting at 730pm on Wednesday, February 22nd.  Everyone is invited!  Basketball practice/workout clothes are completely acceptable.

Come and worship after your child’s 630pm practice.  Or, if acceptable to your child’s coach, come and worship while your child is at their 730pm practice.

Week 8 Announcements!

  1. Game schedule for this week, Game Day 8 (February 25th), can be found at: http://providenceupward.org/game-schedules/
  2. There WILL be practices the week of February 27th-March 2nd.  The gym will be available for team practices on your regularly scheduled night/time for your last practice of the season.  See your coach for more details.
  3. March 3rd games will use Game Day 3 schedules.  See http://providenceupward.org/game-schedules/ for your team’s game time!
  4. Don’t forget the End Of Season Celebration on Sunday March 4th!  Seating and Live Music starts at 4pm.  The Celebration itself starts at 430pm with Jesse the Juggler!  A light dinner (Chick-fil-A!) and Upward Sports gifts will immediately follow the ceremony.
    1. Due to the large number of anticipated celebrants, we plan to serve 3rd graders and above dinner in Fellowship Hall (little gym) and 2nd graders and below in Mission Hall (big gym).  Please plan accordingly.

Coach Keith Smith will be holding the 2nd Annual Dribble, Pass, and Shoot on President’s Day at Providence Presbyterian Church.

Date: Monday, February 20, 2012 (President’s Day, no school)

Boys and Girls, Ages 6-14

Time:
Ages: 6-9, 9:00am to 11:00am
Ages: 10-11, 11:30am to 1:30pm
Ages: 12-14, 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Where: Providence Presbyterian Church, 9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA 22031

Price: $35 per player
